Painted joys, hidden sorrows.
Why were there no tears?
There were ear-to-ear smiles on everyone’s faces. The joys and laughters reverberated through the corridors and inside the classrooms as if it was actually the first day of school. There were jokes. There were people who attempted to defy school rules by making impromptu pranks here and there, albeit executed with extreme care and subtlety, as if they were administering a last-resort placebo drug on a patient suffering from an impossible disease. Everything seemed so happy. Everything seemed so ordinary.
But it is, of course, a painted facade for everyone to see. While it was a fact that nobody within the confines of the school campus expressed grief through the shedding of a tear or two, everyone knew very well that those smiles, those laughters, those jokes, were all nothing but lies.
We all were sad… But we decided to be happy. No use being sad now and crying together when we can be happy together is there? =)
i don’t think they were lies……..it’s just that we want to take away as many good memories as we can about school. the pranks will be some of the most memorable events that you’ll take away with you =). I think we’ll definitely cry at prom. sometimes I wonder which we will remember more?
@jose: i agree. happiness is a choice. but sometimes it’s nicer to be a bit more honest to yourself. actually i just wanted to see someone cry, coz you see, it’s like a chain reaction. once someone starts to cry, the rest will likely follow suit. i didnt want to cry first XD
coz that would hurt my manliness =P
@tsao hui: i don’t think i’ll cry at prom. i’ll be busy strutting on the dancefloor =P
Oh don’t worry man, I’ll probably be the one to start the chain reaction at prom.. Death to manliness. Friends are more important! =P
