[Intro] E G#m7 F#m7 A B [Verse] E You’ve got the best of both worlds G#m7 F#m7 You’re the kind of girl who can take down a man A B And lift him back up again E G#m7 You are strong, but you’re needy, humble but you’re greedy F#m7 A B And based on your body language and shouted cursive I’ve been reading E G#m7 Your style is quite selective, but your mind is rather reckless F#m7 A B Well, I guess it just suggests that this is just what happiness is. [Pre-Chorus] A B Hey, what a beautiful mess this is. A B It’s like picking up trash in dresses [Chorus] E G#m7 Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write F#m7 A B Kind of turn themselves into knives E G#m7 And don't mind my nerve you can call it fiction F#m7 A B F#7 ‘Cause I like being submerged in your contradictions dear A F#7 A E* ‘Cause here we are, here we are [Interlude] E* G#m7 F#m7 A B [Verse] E G#m7 Although you were biased I love your advice F#m7 A B Your comebacks they’re quick and probably have to do with your insecurities E G#m7 There’s no shame in being crazy, depending on how you take these F#m7 A B Words that paraphrasing this relationship we’re staging [Pre-Chorus] A B And it’s a beautiful mess, yes it is A B It’s like, we are picking up trash in dresses [Chorus] E G#m7 Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say F#m7 A B Kind of turn themselves into blades E G#m7 And the kind and courteous is a life I’ve heard F#m7 A B But it’s nice to say that we played in the dirt F#7 A F#7 A Cause here, here we are, Here we are [Verse] E G#m7 F#m7 A B Here we are, here we are, here we are, here we are E G#m7 F#m7 A B Here we are, here we are, here we are, we’re still here [Pre-Chorus] A B And what a beautiful mess this is A B It’s like taking a guess when the only answer is yes [Chorus] E G#m7 And through timeless words in priceless pictures F#m7 A B We’ll fly like birds not of this earth E G#m7 And tides they turn and hearts disfigure F#m7 A B But that’s no concern when we’re wounded together E G#m7 And we tore our dresses and stained our shirts F#m7 A B But it’s nice today, oh the wait was so worth it [Outro] E G#m7 F#m7 A B

I know I’m a late fan of theirs, but who cares.
Although music continues to move on, a part of it always remains, and never dies.
Radiohead is officially my super favourite band everrrr!
The lyrics haunt me.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Close to you.
In today’s world where the majority of new songs are as loud as howling monkeys, as ungrammatically-friendly as Beijing signboards, directories and posters, and as short-lived as mosquitoes, it is good to know that there are soul-soothing musical pieces that never die.

Yesterday was a good day. It was Jix’s birthday, which I totally forgot until I saw his face when I arrived in Oldham Hall. They were there – Danson, Zippy, Kenneth, Yza, Jix, Candice, and some of the juniors. Jessie is in Batam, doing overseas CIP. Well I wouldn’t really count that as overseas since Batam is like, a few minutes away from this island? I would compare it to a getaway trip from the busy setting of Manila to the suburbs of Batangas. Well it was OH’s cultural celebration, an event where they all gather and perform some cultural stuff, and then waste precious money by setting up booths that showcase their respective countries. Well, I felt kind of “junk” when I went to the Filipino booth, upon seeing tons and tons of Chippy, Piattos, Onion Rings, Goldilock’s Polvoron, Cornicks, and Dilis! beautifully spread over the table. Gosh, it was all junk food on the table.
It was fun. Went to Raffles Town Club as well. Went to CJC Hostel, ate some prawns. Had a wonderful time with my Filipino friends. Drank Bacardi courtesy of Zippy. Nice booze. Saw someone. Loved that moment.
Went back home at around 12 am.
Nlk Bddhk Wrnkl.

Something is about to give
I can feel it coming
I think I know what it means
I’m not afraid to die
I’m not afraid to live
And when I’m flat on my back
I hope to feel like I did
’cause hardness, it sets in
You need some protection
The thinner the skin
I want you to know
That you don’t need me anymore
I want you to know
You don’t need anyone, or anything at all
Who’s to say where the wind will take you
Who’s to say what it is will break you
I don’t know, which way the wind will blow
Who’s to know when the time has come around
Don’t want to see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye
In summer I can taste the salt in the sea
There’s a kite blowing out of control on a breeze
I wonder what’s gonna happen to you
You wonder what has happened to me
I’m a man, I’m not a child
A man who sees
The shadow behind your eyes
Who’s to say where the wind will take you
Who’s to say what it is will break you
I don’t know, where the wind will blow
Who’s to know when the time has come around
I don’t want to see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye
Did I waste it?
Not so much I couldn’t taste it
Life should be fragrant
Roof top to the basement
The last of the rocks stars
When hip-hop drove the big cars
In the time when new media
Was the big idea
What was the big idea)

It’s always been a wonder how her small body can accommodate such a huge vital capacity of air, how her diaphragm can contract so powerfully, and how her larynx can manipulate the pitch and the volume to generate a stream of jaw-dropping, beautiful melodies. However, she has amazed me not mainly because she sings as if she’s been singing for for 48 years, but because of the way she has stunned her audiences; the way she leaves them speechless at the moment she begins to sing; the way her very last high note pulls their bums out from the seats to give her a standing ovation.

I only have a few days left here in the Philippines. Believe it or not, the desire to go back to Singapore has been building up pretty fast. I guess I’m not really used to slacking any more! \:D/ Which is kinda good, I think? For the past two years and eight months, I have been constantly bombarded with so much work that, without much realizing, it has become the quintessence of everyday life. It’s like rice. That white rice you keep on eating everyday. You don’t really like it since it’s hardly got any taste, but you keep on eating it everyday, and after getting used to it, when you have the yummy viand on your plate but you don’t have that tasteless rice in front of you, your lunches and dinners don’t feel like lunches and dinners at all. And I must admit. I have been enjoying doing work this year. There isn’t much of a pakyu-gaddamet-this-life!!! rantings this year; stress has been more of a consolation, actually. Heh. With a multitude of adolescent emotional outrages here and there, doing homework has been my sort of diversion from all of them.
I miss those long, frustrating journeys from sjii to de casalle at the end of every day. Those moments when I have to choose between the Old Police Academy and Trellis Towers bus stops. Those moments when I fall asleep on the bus and miss the After Still Road bus stop. Those long, obliterating processions along the stretch of Lor N Telok Kurau Road. All those ordeals which I have to do while carrying a hippopotamus bag on my back. And I miss that crazy hill. And that effing overhead bridge. And most of all, I miss being broke.
Araw-Gabi.
Araw-Gabi.
Day-Night. Day and Night. Whichever way you translate it in English.
One of the most poetic Filipino songs ever. I just love the way the words perfectly fit into the tune. A very intelligent and meaningful song.
Although this live acoustic version by Regine Velasquez isn’t as nice as her original version.
Summer holiday.
I dropped by Jose’s blog and this nice song suddenly played on his blog. Good thing it was a nice song, because I usually hate websites which automatically play songs when you open the web page. It just scares the shit out of you especially if they are those kinds of songs which you will normally find on Sid’s ipod. haha
I did a bit of research
-out of boredom-
and found out that this song served its purpose when the famous musical “Summer Holiday” hit the UK silver screen in 1963.
A fabulous 60s Musical – 4 London Bus mechanics strike up a deal with London Transport. They do up a double decker London Bus, drive it around Europe as a hotel and if they make it they will own and be in charge of a whole fleet. While on the road in France they pick up 3 ladies whose car breaks down and offer to take them to their next singing job in Athens. They also pick up a stowaway. A young, American boy. Meanwhile, a young American female singer has gone missing. Her mother (who is a VERY ambitious woman) and her aid take the story to the press and it makes the front page. They do all they can to make the story run for as long as possible, including misdirecting the bus up an extremely steep Yugoslavian hill. We find out the young American boy is actually the young American girl who is missing. Mayhem ensues as the lead character, Don (Cliff Richard) falls for Barbara. Eventually, when the 8 bus riders reach Athens, they’re arrested for kidnapping. In front of her mother and a Ballroom filled with world-press, Barbara and Don declare their love for each other and the mother accepts (after realising how ‘big’ Don will become). When the film ends, all eight people are at a Grecian beach and very much enjoying their well deserved holiday!
Ok there’s the synopsis from www.imdb.com. As I was reading this another movie actually came to my mind: Mr. Bean’s Holiday. The plot seems similar – there was that accidental kidnapping part as well. Well I guess Hollywood’s just running out of ideas today. But let’s admit it – they’re earning bigger bucks these days.
Oh, I almost forgot. Here’s the song.
